Clean and Sober is his best performance

Keaton until this movie had played comedy roles, and it was in this film that he really showed his range an actor. Batman is his most famous role, and he receives most of his praise from critics in Birdman, but in my opinion this was his greatest performance. If you have not seen it, check it out.

I'm excited to see this, as I have only heard good things! It is a hard one to find though.

Michael Keaton has a rare talent for being able to mesh drama and comedy into a single role. I felt sad for him when he was talking about his family in Nightshift, in Multiplicity he has some great scenes with his onscreen wife...

He has a lot of range and I am honestly stunned how he had never had any Oscar recognition before Birdman (which I believe to be in the top 100 performances of all time!). I'm talking My Life... Man that movie was incredible and he was fantastic. I never balled more during a movie ever. Also Beetlejuice. Sometimes the Academy recognizes roles in unconventional genres (for the Academy Awards). I mean... His role in Beetlejuice was outstanding, different, and I'm sure it inspired the great Jack Nicholson for the Joker in Batman (he was also a great Batman).

Anyway... Long rant, but I definitely have to check out Clean and Sober.

Sean Bean's must see roles: Accused, TLOTR, Ronin, Clarissa, Essex Boys, GOT, Sharpe, Black Death

You can rent Clean and Sober on YouTube for $3.99. It's so worth it! I myself have it on DVD, and have watched it 100 times.

No...

1. The Paper
2. Live From Baghdad
3. Birdman
4. Multiplicity
5. Jackie Brown

Multiplicty? Are you serious with that?

reply

Absolutely, yes.

It's a comedy not a drama.

I think he's better in "Multiplicity" than he was in "Beetlejuice".

It shows you how diverse he can be.

He nails each character perfectly.

I liked it okay, but think he has been funier in other comedies. Beetlejuice, Gung Ho, The Dream Team, Mr. Mom. I was really liking Multiplicity until they introduced the feminine Doug, and the mentally retarded Doug. That's when it started going downhill for me. If they had just stuck with the first clone I think the movie would have been much funnier. JMO.

reply

I get it. I'm not saying it was a great by any stretch. I just think he nailed it in the picture.
