William's top five performances?

William is such a fantastic actor and always a treat to watch but in which five films do you think he gives his best performances? For me it's the following.

1- Second Best
2- Children of a Lesser God
3- Broadcast News
4- Varian's War
5- The Challenger

During the 80's was there a better actor on such a great roll as Hurt, I don't think their was.

Great choices. He was brilliant in The Big Chill, I thought he stole every scene he was in. I am always left wanting to know more about his character.

True that. I've watched it many times, and his character leaves me wanting more. That's why he, not Jeff Goldblum's, caught the attention of the beautiful Meg Tilly's character.

Always thought Bill Hurt was an under appreciated actor. I love his role choices, and the wide-range of scripts. No matter how big or small the part he really is memorable.

1) Kiss of the Spider Woman

2) Accidental Tourist

3) Broadcast News

4) Into The Wild

5) the 4th Floor

Accidental Tourist, for my taste, his best role.

His family in AT is almost Chekhov like atmosphere.

Agreed. Great film choices, I haven't seen The 4th Floorfor ages.

Everything you guys mentioned also gets my vote but I'd definitely add his complex character in One True Thing, opposite Meryl Streep, as one of his bests as well.
