Diagnosed with cancer

Apparently, he's been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which is not good at all.

So sorry to hear this, he's a wonderful actor.

The reason pancreatic cancer is usually a death sentence is that it's often asymptomatic (or diagnosed as diabetes or something else) until it has metastasized; by then it's too late for effective surgery or drug treatment.

Hopefully Hurt's case is one where they caught it early and he pulls through - in my opinion, he's one of the greatest living actors, and it would be sad to lose him.

Veteran actor Sir John Hurt has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

The 75-year-old, who was Oscar-nominated for his role in 1980's The Elephant Man, said he would continue working despite the diagnosis.

"I am undergoing treatment and am more than optimistic about a satisfactory outcome, as indeed is the medical team," he told the Press Association.

Hurt, who starred as the War Doctor in Doctor Who in 2013, added he would continue with his professional work.

"I am continuing to focus on my professional commitments and will shortly be recording Jeffrey Bernard Is Unwell (one of life's small ironies!) for BBC Radio 4," he said.

Supposedly he started to feel unwell during lunch and began clutching at his abdomen, thankfully one of his guests eventually looked back from behind the couch and decided to call a doctor.

Ya Kirk-loving Spocksucker!
