He was a truly wonderful actor, yet for a guy who is knkwn for a huge range, it's odd that there is a definite 'John Hurt' voice.
Like Sean Connery in all his movies.

shareYounger actors like Gary Oldman, Daniel Day Lewis and Johnny Depp were afforded the opportunity to play vastly different roles, but "versatility" wasn't a thing back when Hurt started to happen in movies. You had your screen persona and that was that (think Bogey, Stewart, Monroe). Hurt did very well within his given parameters: to compare him to Sean Connery is a joke.
