Best role was Boogie Nights.

Should have won an Oscar and Tony.

reply

But he did win an Oscar. Should've won the Tony for Salesman, though.

Supporting Actor: Burt Reynolds

Original Screenplay

Total Wins: 0

Nobody won anything.

reply

Hoffman won the Oscar for Best Actor in Capote. OP never specified that it had to be for Boogie Nights.

reply

Even though Boogie Nights is in the title?

reply

It just said his "best role" was in Boogie Nights, not that Hoffman should have won an award for that role in particular. You could make the argument that one could logically assume the original post was referring to that, but the wording does not specifically indicate the point.

reply

When you put all 3 together this is what you get.

Philip Seymour Hoffman Best role was Boogie Nights Should have won an Oscar and Tony.

Maybe I read things differently.

reply

Even if you read it all together that way, it's still a run-on sentence that lacks definitive coherence. You seem more forgiving of those sorts of things.

"Best role was Boogie Nights. Should have won an Oscar and Tony for any other role you can think of."
