A tremendous loss.

I was watching "The Savages" the other day and was reminded of what a truly gifted actor this man was. One of the greatest actors of his generation, no doubt.

The day he died was one of the worst days of my life. He died in the morning and the Seahawks won the super bowl later that evening. It was a sh*tty day to say the least

If put him on the same level as Pacino and De Niro in their prime. Such a powerful actor.

reply

Absolutely. Daniel Day Lewis, as well.

His range was amazing.

It was a huge loss as far as actors go

"Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" is fantastic. See it if you haven't.

I've seen bits and pieces of it, but never the whole thing, though I do know that it's acclaimed.

I'll keep an eye out for it.

One of my favorite's of his is "Synecdoche, New York".

Great movie too. I used to see any movie I heard he was in. Such a tremendously gifted actor. Ethan Hawke and Albert Finney are also very good in "BtDKYD".

I just marathoned P.T. Anderson's movies and he was flawless in every single one of them, especially 'The Master'. It absolutely sucks that he's gone, we can do nothing about it and it makes me so sad.

Well I still miss the guy. A true artist that could touch your heart. There aren't too many of them. The first 3 movies I saw him in were Boogie Nights (where he blew that whole big cast off the screen in a tiny part), Happiness (let's see DeNiro or Pacino play that role), and The Talented Mr. Ripley. That's a pretty good career for some actors, and he was just getting started. The best actor of his generation, I think for sure, and he belongs in the discussion for best American male actor of all time.
