Typecast?

Why is it Harrison Ford was never typecast or let the character of Han Solo overshadow him, but Hamill says being Luke Skywalker hurt him? I'm sure your agent has a lot to do with it.

I hate to say this, but Harrison has leading man physical appearance and gravitas, not that Mark doesn't have his own brand of it, but could you imagine if Lucas and Spielberg had cast Mark instead of Harrison in Raiders?

I go back to the argument that not having a good agent actively seeking out roles to break being typecast as well as possibly trying harder not be typecast might have helped...but it's easy for me to talk from my seat and not really in his shoes at the time trying to get work as a serious actor. He did go to New York and did actual theater that Harrison and Carrie never really did, so I personally think you could argue that he is the best thespian of the original three.

I would for sure LOVE to see him act in some quality character parts in some quality and SERIOUS Oscar caliber films before he really retires...all that good talent gone to waste on B and C caliber movies hits me in the fangirl gut with a bad feeling.

Ford's two biggest roles: Han Solo, lovable rouge who looks for treasure yet has a "good guy" heart under his tough exterior; also, Indiana Jones, lovable rouge who looks for treasure yet has a "good guy" heart under his tough exterior.

Harrison Ford absolutely was typecast, he just got more work. Even Decker from Blade Runner is the same taciturn tough guy/ romantic lead type.
