Why does she care so much about her looks?

So she's uglier that sh!t, big deal. She's still ugly even after the surgery.

exactly,
Many of our(female) stars would not have had their career if not for their nose-jobs,etc.

Most of the popular Hollywood actresses nowadays are natural beauties - if you look at their younger pics, they look more or less the same.
Not sure I can agree with that.

Many actresses were already natural beauties, years and decades ago. Some mucked with their looks a lot, others, not so much. But consider the long line of natural beauties from the 20s-80s. I cold list some but the omissions wouldn't do justice to the others.

There are some natural beauties today, too. But some are just "pretty". Many of them, however, tweak their looks, unnaturally, to various degrees. Again, there's quite a long line of even young women who have done this; Megan Fox comes to mind (who IS a natural beauty and didn't need all that work), but there are many who get nose work, collagen, botox at a young age, fillers, and the rest; not all of them with "ethnic" looks.

I don't think this nose job made Jennifer Grey necessarily "pretty". In fact, her post-surgery look is one that many European women naturally have.
Most people who found Jennifer sexy, before, now cringe at how "plain" she looks. She didn't make herself ugly, she just destroyed what made her unique and interesting. Also it's the "why" which is the most disturbing. Were it for a medical reason, most people would have been sympathetic.

The other problem is the assumption of them getting surgery.
The fact seems to be that fewer women are getting accused of surgery or treatments than actually are. From all evidence I've seen, not only via appearance but the sheer commonality of the products, procedures & treatments are ubiquitous.

In point: collagen/botox/fillers would not be used on a young woman; it's used for wrinkles.
I'm sure Heidi Montag would be relieved at that statement 

Actually, fact is, even teenagers have admitted to using botox, as scary and senseless as that is. They apparently didn't want even the natural wrinkles which occur on a face, even in youth.

On every board, botox is mentioned, when I don't even think people know what it is, but a word to toss around
True... and many people seem to say "they're not using it" with just as much ignorance of the facts.

I tend to not give much credence to the various voices of ignorance and discuss the matters as they appear.
