Favourite John Goodman roles (So far)

He was great in Sea of Love, The Big Easy, Raising Arizona, Fallen, The Big Lebowski and recently in 10 Cloverfield Lane. He has played a lot of roles besides these but I think these are the ones which put him into serious actor territory.

Which John Goodman roles have you enjoyed and why?

Hes ALWAYS great... Ive never seen him do a bad days work
Love him! Hes always so kind and calm in his roles...
But he was SO creepy in Cloverfield Lane id say he was best in that...i know someone who met him and said he was the sweetest, nicest guy...and then he can act that crazy!?!
This guy deserves way more accolades!

I don't necessarily like JG. I don't think he's a very convincing actor. Imho, he kinda mails it in, due his affable, comfortable demeanor. That's not a bad thing, I just don't connect with him as a serious actor.
But I really liked him on the original Roseanne show. He seemed like the calm center, a hard-working guy who wanted to make things as comfortable as he could. A Regular Guy. The rest usually were comic foils -- he was the calm center, even with that big, ungainly body.
In movies, he usually WAS the comic foil, like the Coen bros films.
