Gilliam, 78, said: “We’re already excluded because the world has changed. I’m tired of being, as a white male, blamed for everything that’s wrong in the world.

“So now I want you to call me Loretta. I’m a black lesbian in transition.”

The American-born star also claimed that sensitive snowflakes have ruined comedy for everyone.

The thing we're all told nowadays is that if you're unhappy with who or what you are then you can become anything or anyone you want to be.

Surely there's no possible, foreseeable way that this self-absorbed mentality could be even remotely damaging to a whole generation of people growing up in a volatile world that's changing faster than they can perceive and which doesn't give a damn about the rich emotional and psychological tapestry of their tiny fucking lives, right?

If everyone's allowed to roleplay themselves into a narcissistic, attention-seeking dead end of emperor's-new-clothes irrelevance then why not also Gilliam, one of the grand fantasists of our time?

Well a member of the white male patriarchy would say that wouldn't he...
