Brazil is his best movie right?

Loved that movie.

Personally, I think The Fisher King is his best film, followed by Time Bandits and 12 Monkeys. I'm not a huge fan of Brazil.

I would say Fisher King because of the original and heartfelt story, but Brazil is also amazing.
12 Monkeys is also a great blockbuster, given that he retains his strange characters, but has a more mass appeal I think.

I think Brazil is his masterpiece, but you could definitely make a good case for The Fisher King too.

Also, it might just be me, but I think La Jetée is superior to 12 Monkeys, though I do like the latter and think it successfully translated an esoteric art film into an approachable thriller.

"Fisher King," hands down -- although "12 Monkeys" was great, too. My husband loves "The Adventures of Baron Von Munchhausen."

Well, I'll always be a big fan of The Meaning of Life, but Gilliam didn't actually direct that...

Of the ones he's directed, Brazil and Fisher King are above the others. I really love all of his work, though.

Brazil is 4th or 5th for me. Still great but I appreciate most of his other stuff much more. 12 Monkeys & Time Bandits being on top.

reply

Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas is his best. 12 Monkeys is a close second.

My Top 5...

Brazil
The Fisher King
Time Bandits
Twelve Monkeys
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas

amazing list. crazy its all from one man as well.

reply

Yes, although it took me a second viewing to truly appreciate it. I love Time Bandits which is a very close second.

Technically my favourite is Monty Python and the Holy Grail but I don't really consider that a Terry Gilliam film.
