What was that movie she was in?

Hi, I'm trying to find the name of a movie that Terri Garr was in. It would have been from the late 70's to anywhere in the 80's. The plot was about a cop who goes for a medical test and while there, another patient who had smoked dope, switches samples. The cop is told that he only has a couple of weeks to live. Terri Garr plays his ex-wife. The cop's insurance will pay out his ex-wife and son if he is killed on the job, so he does everything to get killed.

I really liked this show, but have no idea what its called. Could somebody help me? Thanks.
