Thoughts on Carrie Fisher

I truly hope she pulls through. Not because I want her to continue with Star Wars of which I am a long time fan.

It was back in the 90's when she hosted an airing of Star Wars on the newly fledged Sci-Fi channel that really won me over. I love Star Wars and her loathing of it was not in any way veiled as she peppered the commercial breaks with jokes so dry I had to watch with a jug of water beside me to avoid being desiccated. It was hilarious and I taped it off the satellite. It remains my only copy of the non special editions today. Greatly enhanced by her unforgiving commentary. Since then I have adored her public appearances for that same unfiltered awesomeness she so effortlessly imbues.

As far as her acting I have seen comparatively little, but a movie called "White Lighting" (which I did not think was particularly good) impressed me quite a bit as I did not recognize her at all till the credits mercifully informed me. There is those adorable photos of her and her stunt double in Jedi sharing a joint which always makes me smile. Her inseparable mutant dog which I also love, having been great friends with mutant dogs myself.

She makes me laugh. A valuable thing on any planet. I wish her, her family and all the best. She is a bit of wonderful.

Uploading and/or transcribing that would be a great public service, no doubt gathering many clicks.
