How Does he only have 1 Oscar? He's Duvall for god's sake!

This man should have at least two oscars ar his possession by now. He has played so many iconic characters, and had many amazing performances, rmany of which didn't get the attention they deserved.

I would be happy with hims winning an oscar for anyone of the following movies. (Santini, Apostle, Godfather, Get Low, MASH, etc)

Anyone else thinks he deserves more than one academy award. (Although I am aware that a lot of it involves politics and it isn't purely based on the performance)

He definitely needs to win at least one more in his career. I'm just praying that it has nothing to do with him being a republican.

At least he has one.

Peter O Toole, Albert Finney have had multiple nomination and have zero Oscars.

Its that man again!!

I'm watching The Apostle again for the first time in about 11 years, and just checked to make sure he won the Oscar that year. Scandalized that he didn't. I truly believe, watching this, that this man is a flawed preacher. He reminds me of a couple of preachers and one family member that i grew up with, complete with the language, behavior, and mannerisms. Amazing.

I enjoyed that movie that Nicholson won for that year, but as usual, he was playing Jack Nickolson, just Jack with OCD this time. Duvall was DEFINITELY robbed, and I usually don't get into the he/she is better than that other actor type of debates!

Anyway, just a quick post since I'm watching Apostle right now.

Yeah I completely agree. He definitely should have won for that year.
I don't think Jack always plays himself though. I mean he's definitely good, but shouldn't have won for that year. It wasn't one of his best roles, especially in comparison with Duvall's role.

I mean I might be a little guilty of favoritism (considering I just really enjoy watching Duvall act) but I think he's pretty underrated, and I know people like him, but I just don't think that he gets the attention that he deserves. (like Pacino, Deniro, Nicholsen, Hoffman, etc. get constantly)

I'm still astonished at the fact that he hasn't recieved a lifetime achievment award.

The fact that he seems so down to earth, so 'Bob' to me, in real life only endears him to me more. I stand up with you folks, wishing that someone of his
stature and ability would be the more celebrated.

Let me ask you this. Why does Pacino only have 1 oscar win? He should've easily won one for his role as Michael Corleone.
