Well, for me it wasn't early 00s but early 90s and he was always considered this big talent with personal problems. While at the time I knew nothing of this, he used to be the youngest actor I really really liked. Also he was the only American actor I liked.

The only question remains. Will you yield... in time?

I have loved him ever since the movie Chances Are...I know he has had some personal problems in the past but I am really glad he over came them and he has started making great films like the Avenger films and Sherlock Holmes...he is a good actor.

I've always been a huge fan of his; except for SNL, but that was because the show as a whole sucked terribly during his tenure there. His personal problems never made me think any less of him. I mean, my god, there are so many people in the industry with the same (or worse) issues. I don't look to celebrities for my moral compass; I watch them to be entertained. And Mr. Downey Jr. is very entertaining.

Ladies and gentlemen...Mr.Conway Twitty

Yes he is.

Before iron man I didn't notice him that much except for kiss kiss bang bang. It was entertaining to watch him cause he was goofy and comical in it. I've seen him before in gothika but doesn't really leave any lasting impression. Couple of years later didn't see him that much and along came iron man. Iron man and RDJ seems inseparable much like Hugh jackman as the wolverine. I doubt we all feel the same if someone else replaced him.

I saw him in Air America and Chaplin when I was 17 in a Movie/Multimedia class back in 1999. From then on I was obsessed. My parents didn't get it b/c he was known for his drug issues. They got tired of hearing about him very quickly....until he was on my mom's favorite show Ally McBeal in 2000. Now, my mom gets it. I'm so glad he finally got his life on track. He's an amazing actor.

I viewed him as another actor who seemed to be celebrated for his talent, but always in and out of jail/rehab, especially by the time Ally McBeal came around (currently watching on Netflix, but haven't gotten to his storyline yet).

I remember being obsessed with Heart and Souls back in the 90's, simply because it was one of those many Saturday and Sunday afternoon movies that I would watch while mom and dad were out in the garden. That will always be the first one of his movies that I loved, even if it wasn't the best.

I agree. I thought he was absolutely SUPERB in "Chances Are". He gave a beautiful, and, ironically, quite a Chaplinesque performance in it. He was also great in "Less Than Zero", which was heartbreaking.

I am very happy for him that he has overcome his drug problems, and that he seems to have a good marriage now, because he is quite a talent. I'd love to see him win the Academy Award one day.
