What is the greatest Disney film?

I'm torn between Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmatians and The Little Mermaid.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Old Skol here. Next in line would be Sleeping Beauty.

A masterpiece of course. I guess I'm going by technical brilliance. I know he disliked 101 Dalmatians but the cheap xerox animation gave it an incredible fluidity of movement and lifelike quality.

I never saw that one.

The Lion King. Maybe not Disney's greatest but it's my favorite.

Wow now here... You got me. I wouldn't be able to say, I've grown up with too many Disney cartoons.

If i really had to pick, I always had a little something for Aladdin and Jungle's Book.

I like Hercules. Maybe not the greatest of all Disney films but it is my favorite. Maybe Snow White is the greatest one?

Sleeping Beauty and The Lion King.

From the Walt era: Mary Poppins

From the post-Walt era: Probably The Lion King

Yes, agreed. Mary Poppins. And really, we should only count movies made while Walt Disney was running things. After he died, it seems like things gradually went a bit off. I imagine Roy Disney wasn't as strong a personality as his brother, and allowed people to alter the course which Walt had set. He wasn't, after all, the creative man Walt was.

Many people would say that "Fantasia" was the greatest film Disney ever made. Granted it was not to everyone's taste, but it must stand as a monumental achievement of animation, which, after all, was what Walt Disney was all about. The fact that it was made in 1940, when other animators produced "cartoons" only, is astonishing.

Then there's "Bambi". And who, even in 2020, hasn't heard of Bambi?

The Black Hole
