As an actor...

... He knows what he's doing. His performances in there will be blood and my left foot - for me is as good as I have seen. The whole three oscars thing means that I'm not alone in thinking that he is "the man".

Burns said "A mans a man for a' that and a' that" which is true - and so I think we may be all guilty of perhaps holding actors and such in a higher regard than is reasonable at times - there just people at the end of the day - it just so happens that DDL's job is pretending to be someone else to tell a story - but in his line of work he is as good as it gets.

Not that I know much about this kind of stuff - but for me I haven't seen him play a film where I thought he was the same guy twice, what I mean is - I watch some actors and think he's just the same guy as last time in a different set of circumstances.

Not that there is any point to be made by this thread - and I doubt DDL or any of his pals will read this - but I just wanted to say thanks for your role in telling those story's - at times I have felt really moved by your work - so good job mate - thanks.

He is the most outstanding actor of all I've rewatched Lincoln and Last of the Mohicans over and over. The Crucible I saw the play then your movie and I was mesmerized.

Cannot agree. He is ham writ large. Admittedly I have not seen all his films but I have seen enough to know that this guy cannot act at all. Everything I have seen him in has disappointed me, from My Beautiful Laundrette to There Will Be Blood.
His pantomime villain in Gangs of New York had to be seen to be believed - he ruined that film for me.
For some reason the people who matter rate him but I think that they are fooled by his Englishness and self deprecating manner.

Yeah, well, you know that's just like, your opinion man.

But also remember OP he is just an actor, not a god to be worshipped.
