will they retire the character ?
or will they recast
shareDid something happen? Or are you just speculating?
I don't think they'll keep the character going. But then I'm not sure what role any of the "standard" characters will have in upcoming films. If they do another "main story" trilogy (or standalone flick), I'm guessing they'll keep on Rey, Finn, and Poe, and they might want to expand on Lando and Chewie... I don't know.
If it were me, I think I'd just have Threepio doing stuff in the background. Maybe recycle some delete scenes lines or outtakes to give him a line or two of dialogue. R2 and C3PO have been in every main Star Wars film. At this point...maybe yeah, they should always be there.
just speculating. i was wondering if they'd put him on a series with r2 but then i thought about how old he must be. in the background would be a good idea.
shareYou can hear the rasp in his voice in the sequel trilogy. Not a bad thing per se, but it's just that he sounds aged. Which, I mean...I'm not criticising. But it's an observation. And it does raise an eyebrow with a droid.
I noticed Vader's voice in Rogue One was sounding older as well.
yes c3 po's voice should sound as new as it did in a new hope. and darth vader's voice bugged me in rogue one.

i figure they might want him in episode 10 when they get that idea going. they'll probably do that when they do.
shareChances are, they'll do as they have done with many stock characters (usually cartoon characters, but there are exceptions) and find an actor with a similar voice who can play the part.
