It's disappointing but not unexpected

Chan's patriotism, however, was snubbed by some commenters on Weibo, the Chinese version of Twitter. The Weibo users questioned Chan's "moral character," citing incidences of his infidelity and his son Jaycee's drug offenses, saying it would disqualify him from becoming a party member.

"He might love the country and be hardworking, but he has character problems," one user with the ID Zhuozhuo Drolma said. "It's better if he doesn't join the party."

I mean, I mean, I mean that just, I'm sittin' here on the bench, I mean I'm sittin' here on the Group W bench, 'cause you want to know if I'm moral enough join the Chinese Communist Party, commit genocide, murder dissidents, and unleash a virus on the world that kills millions of people, after cheating on my wife.

reply

Not really

reply

True. It's a lot worse, but I wanted to keep it succinct.

Prove it

reply

Not my job to cure your lack of knowledge.

reply

Prove it

You can get anything you want at Jackie Chan's Restaurant.

reply

So what's the membership test now, you have to personally board people who might have COVID into their homes?

Seriously, this is incredibly disappointing, but not all that surprising. Chan has always put his career first, far ahead of his family, and if joining the Party will help his career he probably wouldn't see the problem.

reply

Does he have a choice? Like I'm genuinely asking.

I keep hearing that even when Mega billionaire, Jack Ma, said something about the Government, he kinda "went missing" for a while.

So, no matter how powerful you are, you're not safe from the communist government.

Even though im a huge fan of his, I'm not trying to defend Jackie. Just wondering, that's all.

reply

He lives in China. What's he supposed to do?

reply

So does most of Hollywood. Nothing surprising. The CCP practically owns them all.

I think Jackie is more conservative than people realize or think of on him. He just loves his country to the core as do the cons in the US, nationalism/patriotism. He hates liberals or in this case, Democracy as it brings instability to the country with the constant protests and unrest. He prefers peace and quiet so basically quelling any complaints from others or have it more controlled to address peoples concerns I guess.

I kinda understand where he's coming from when he views the western nations and seeing that shit in China probably triggers him. For some reason the Chinese government and maybe a good portion of their people like it when things are controlled and managed by the big government party to keep the peace and suppress dissent as it keeps things orderly unlike what you see going on in the US where there is constant chaos, violence, unrest, CRT, LGBTQ+ weird stuff etc.

reply

yeah doesent seem that bad when you put it like that.
