most kid friendly Chan film?

My 8 year old daughter is interested in martial arts and I'd like to show her films but not ones with people dying bloodily or with sexually suggestive scenes. It seems even Jackie's films have a bit of both in spite of the largely comedic feel of most. Which film do you think is action packed but has the least non-comedic violence & no innuendo?

I've seen the future and I've left it behind.

Nice question,

Hmm, well i guess you can try to show her this one - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087578/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_62 - in this movie there is a nice story , lot of fights (one of this fights at the end of the movie is still acclaimed by lot of ppl and martial arts professionals as the best on screen fights ever.) and actually there is no one died bloodily. Though i must say there is one dead body in this movie.) Anyway i saw this movie as kid , i guess i was about 11 years old at that time. Also, at first try to watch it by yourself before show it to your kid, just to be sure that it is ok from your point of view.

Also try this one too - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085127/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_65
The Project A is a quite a pirate movie, so there is killing and shootouts. And a lot of fights. Actually it is very good movie by Jackie and all parts in it as story , fights, stunts, comedy, all mixed just great. Though again, watch this masterpiece by yourself and decide if it is ok for your kid.

Good luck)))

Wheels on Meals - only references to prostitutes but nothing explicit. Bit of blood, well nose bleed really.

Project A II - besides the Project A montage which shows naked butt Jackie everything else in part 2 is fine. There's a scene where women are getting changed but again nothing explicit.

Miracles - just an all round family friendly movie. Does suffer from being way toooo long!

Who Am I - good action flick, no innuendos or bad violence.

Gorgeous - terrific martial arts sparring but a very weird movie. It tries to be a romantic action comedy. It doesn't work and the leading actress is too childish and young for an aging Jackie. No chemistry but action is excellent!

Karate Kid - family orientated movie and good acting by Jackie who teaches Jaden Smith martial arts. Your 8 yr old is likely to relate to this one.

Spy Next Door - made for 3 year olds but still fun. Be careful if you admit you like this movie because there are members here with small pen15es who will attack you for having an opinion.

Thank you, I was looking for films from his pre-Hollywood days. Since Rush Hour I haven't been very interested in his work. But perhaps worth checking out since they'll be "safer".

That's just... childish.

Around the World in 80 Days, Forbidden Kingdom, Spy Next Door.

Shanghai Noon I think would be okay for an 8 year old, Also, Project A doesn't have anything objectionable really plus it has pirates.

Hope that helped.

In the words of George Takei, "Oh My!"

Very few of Chan's movies aren't appropriate for kids to watch.

Rob-B-Hood, The Spy Next Door, Who Am I? Kung Fu Panda and sequels (animated,) Shanghai Noon/Knights, The Karate Kid, The Forbidden Kingdom, The Tuxedo (some scary/death moments), Around the World in 80 Days, Mr. Canton and Lady Rose (aka Miracles) are all films that should appeal to a younger person. The Armour of God/Operation Condor films are kind of like Indiana Jones, and may also appeal. There is a third one just released (I haven't seen it yet) called Chinese Zodiac 2012 or CZ12.

I would suggest reviewing the films yourself before letting her watch, there shouldn't be any nudity or strong gore, but there may be some suggestive scenes or violent deaths. The Hollywood films aren't likely to have as much. The IMDB Parent's guides may break some of them down for you.

EDIT: Operation Condor does have some female nudity from the rear.
