Baldwin is formally charged with manslaughter: Videos show him with finger on trigger before he killed Halyna Hutchins

Alec Baldwin has officially been charged with involuntary manslaughter for shooting dead Halyna Hucthins on the set of their movie Rust in October 2021.

Prosecutors in Santa Fe, New Mexico, formally filed charges today.

They announced their intention to charge Baldwin earlier this month, but delayed filing the paperwork to allow themselves time to explain the controversial decision.

Baldwin has vowed to fight the charges. He says he never pulled the trigger, and that it was a tragic accident.

If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison. Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed has also been charged.

Among the papers filed Tuesday is a 10-page probable cause affidavit which claims Baldwin gave 'inconsistent accounts' about how the shooting happened, at first telling police he 'fired' the gun, then insisting he did not pull the trigger.

The affidavit also claims there is surveillance footage of Baldwin on the day in question, in the immediate lead up to the accident, with his hand on the trigger.

They also say he did not undergo proper gun safety training, and that he was talking to his family on his cell phone when he was meant to have been learning how to handle the weapon.

'Photo and video evidence from inside the church on the day of the shooting show some of the rehearsal up to and including moments before the shooting.

'The photos and videos clearly show Baldwin multiple times with his finger inside of the trigger guard and on the trigger, while manipulating the hammer and while drawing, pointing and holstering the revolver.'

'Baldwin knew the first rule of gun safety is to never point a gun at someone you don't intend on shooting,' the document continues.

Baldwin claimed in interviews after the shooting that he did not pull the trigger.

He believes the fault lies with the armorer, who he says should have checked the gun was safe before it was handed to him.

He uses that herd of children as props. He lies about pulling the trigger. He has no shame.

Edited to say: "They also say he did not undergo proper gun safety training, and that he was talking to his family on his cell phone when he was meant to have been learning how to handle the weapon." I'm sure his attitude was that he was "above" learning how to handle a weapon so he didn't need to attend the training. He fucking thinks he knows it all. What a pompous ass!

he is a piece of shit, just like all libturds...

No surprises here. Sloppy all the way around. Armorer at fault, of course, but they can't control a producer-actor's decisions. After reading this, you know why he went on tv to talk about the gun that magically fired on its own, but he didn't mention that he told authorities otherwise that day. Everyone on set has to buy into gun safety.

The article mentions that the forensics examined the gun and couldn't fault it; they couldn't get it to misfire.

Big mistake lying about pulling the trigger. He should have just owned up to that. Lying is not a good look. Shows consciousness of guilt, even if pulling the trigger was a careless thing to do.

He should have just relied on his defense that he was told there were no live bullets in there and that they were trying to do a realistic rehearsal.

reply

This may well wreck his chances of suing the armourer if it can be argued in court that he skimped on gun safety training and dicked around with a non-faulty gun knowing that there were live rounds on set.

I knew this liberal son of a bitch was lying when he said he didn't pull the trigger I've been around guns my whole life and never seen one fire without a trigger pull. He thinks everybody lives in a liberal La La Land And will believe his bullshit magic gun theory. If I was the judge I would throw the fucking book at this fucking asshole
