Very Pretty and good actress BUT.................. .

Far too old now to be playing a love interest for Indiana Jones. They should have went with someone much younger as it looks silly and ridiculous now.

Huh?
Harrison Ford was over 60s years old when he made the latest Indy film. How does that look silly and ridiculous to have the mid-50s Karen Allen playing opposite him? What are you talking about? LOL

reply

She's just too old to be dating him that's all. To be quite frank the idea of a women that age dating a man Harrison ford's age is rather disgusting. I'm not saying he should be with someone super young or anything. Just something appropriate for the part. Say like someone in the 35-43 yr old range would be perfect!

reply

Again.....HUH??!!! Someone appropriate for the part? LOL

To be quite frank your thinking is bizarre. You literally must be 10 years old and go ewwww when mature adults have feelings for each other! In this film she wasn't "dating" him at all - they both were reintroduced by circumstance during the story after having had not seen each other in years. If you know anything about their backstory in Raiders of the Lost Ark they both had had a relationship in the past when she was very young and he was a bit older - as in Indy 4 they were reintroduced to each other by circumstance partway into Raiders. So the Indy-Marion relationship goes waaaaay back. How you get the idea that they are dating in the latest film I have no idea. They obviously still had feelings for each other and finally got married at the end of the movie. They also have a son, Mutt, but Indy didn't know he was the father until finding out in this movie.

It's only gross because of her honestly and I'm not saying she's gross, shes far from it! very pretty....but just inappropriate for the role. It's perfectly fine for Indiana Jones to have a female companion, just someone age appropriate, that's all. It's make it look like he's out on the town with his grandmother and takes away from the action/suspense of the film!!!

reply

obesesadness, you are making no sense and digging a hole. It was a great change for Hollywood to pick an actress of an older age to play a lead role in a major film, it makes perfect sense for an AGING Indiana Jones to have a love interest of the same age-- like NORMAL LIFE!!

reply

It would have been more realistic for a man of heroic nature to have a younger love interest. Indiana Jones with old grandma makes the Indiana Jones concept seem dated. Indiana Jone's doesn't seem like a true Adventurer anymore

Actually in real life it's Normal for a man to have younger love interest.

reply

Man you are deep in the hole, and still contradictory and goofy with your statements. "Actually in real life it's Normal for a man to have younger love interest." If that is true I would say that most of those younger interests are within the same general gap of ages between Allen and Ford and probably even closer. The especially older Hollywood tradition was having the middle-aged lead actor cast opposite a young starlet young enough to be his daughter. Yeah that was really realistic to normal life. That movie tradition has continued to a small degree into current times and of course there is the "trophy wife" thing mostly in rich power circles. But that is not the norm in the real life that I'm aware of.

This "realistic" thing you keep bringing up is just what audiences have been conditioned to and have expected with many of their screen couples.

What about Marian? Is that old grandma not a "true" adventurer any more because she isn't a sweet young thang? The dated concept you mention seems to be your way of thinking. When Indy was younger, he had a younger love interest; in each subsequent film in the series the woman generally was about the same age difference to Indy. To me Kate Capshaw looked like a realistic age match to a slightly more mature Ford, as did Allen in both of their films together. The casting of Allison Hoody or whatever the forgettable blond actress' name was in the 3rd Indy movie seemed the more typical old-Hollywood old-young pairing.

Even though I thought Allen's character wasn't written and used well in Indy 4 you do have to applaud the producers for at least giving Allen screentime and acknowledging that people do age- In Real Life. That's what I love about British/European cinema- they aren't hung up on this silly and limiting youth thing like Hollywood is.

It's not very manly for Indiana Jones to be dating such an aging women. If anything the series is trying to embrace the hip feminist movement and cater to a modern metro sexual audience. It's unrealistic to think Indiana Jones would date such an old bag lady at the expense of real adventure. Very effeminate and wimpy of him.

All the male leads in the poisedon adventure had appropriately aged female counterparts. Indiana Jones should have been taking ques from that.

I also could care less about current Hollywood Cinema. Most new mainstream movies that come out are garbage anyway.
