I haven't seen Live By Night yet. It's waiting for me, and I it. Wonder if that's the flop I'm expecting....? (lol, don't get me wrong, I love Ben)
i couldn't get on with Live by Night, I turned it off. I loved The Town though, I thought that was very accomplished, he had the less showy role and the whole movie looked amazing (including Ben himself).
shareI'm waiting until I'm in the mood for a noir style film (it's summer time - wrong timing for that sort of thing) in case I dislike it more than it deserves.
I've pretty much liked all his work since he started directing. I even like some of his earlier movies better now that I'm no longer anti him (understatement of the decade there). I know I'll probably get my "No, Ben, no! NO NO NO NO!!!" moment, but if/when it comes, I'll be probably be affectionately disappointed. I also want him to sicceed because so many want him to fail simply because he irritated them so much in the past with a combination of some crappy movies and Benifer. And maybe just a touch of begrudging his general success, I don't know.
All I know is, I'm rooting for the guy. And I'm prayng he doesn't lose his shit and go Gigli on us again. :D
He has two Oscars, none of them are for his (lack of) acting skills.
