Maybe she just got tired of people making fun of her and putting her down because of her looks. Haven't been on here in a while but I remember there was a thread devoted to solely to bashing her looks. Some of the things said were downright nasty. Geez, when will society stop bullying women about how they look (especially in Hollywood).
It's disgusting.

There was nothing wrong with her looks whatsoever. She was naturally good looking without being absolutely stunning.

Now, it's her choice to change her appearance, but she must have felt she was ugly.

Now she is just 'odd', and Bridget Jones' Baby is going to be ruined.

Just like her face.

If you saw her in person, she looks like she has always looked. Not sure why some of the pics made her look different, but was just the photography, I guess.
There are other actresses who look so different (Nicole Kidman, for instance) but Renee really hasnt changed that much. She has just aged and isn't wearing the heavy false eyelashes like she used to. She is a very attractive and "real" looking person.
