Bruce Willis Gets No Respect

‘Glass’ finds Willis back with one of his most successful collaborators: M. Night Shyamalan. For more than 30 years, the ‘Die Hard’ star has excelled at portraying the everyman in an extraordinary situation, often with blockbuster box office results. But why has critical success eluded this most ordinary of movie stars?

reply

They'll probably toss Bruce a lifetime achievement award one day, but that's about it.

reply

He is the very definition of a one-note actor.

He's made millions off that one note, so I can't imagine he has a lot of regrets about giving the same performance in every film he's ever made.

reply

Exactly, Otter. Willis has had an incredibly well managed career. He knows what roles to take that suit him well. I don't think I've ever seen him in a role that seemed out of his depth.

reply

I suspect Dwayne Johnson of studying Willis's career closely, because there's another guy with a monumentally limited range... who's made millions and become world-famous by making the absolute most of a limited talent.

If you're an actor with that kind of limitations, the secret of long-term success is to never, EVER, try to stretch your talent with serious dramatic roles.

reply

This! I agree with you.

reply

Because he is not a good actor. Don't get me wrong, I like him and he has made outstanding movies. But he is a one way actor.

I compare him to Arnold Schwarzenegger (don't worry, I know he is a better actor than Arnie): he has a solid filmography but is really limited in his acting range, but I like them both.
