In Australia he's last movie which i went to see (with can't remember with who) was Double Team 1997, the rest were straight to VHS release... Was it the same for other countries ??

I believe it was "Universal Soldier the Return" here in the US.
It did poorly and was not in the theater for long. I'm sure DVDs sales were decent though.
JCVD had a limited release but nowhere near my hometown near Kansas City.
