Huge fan but...

Post-Catch Me If You Can he really hasn't directed anything I felt was a home run / clever / fresh Spielberg movie that I used to admire so much.

I have enjoyed some of his movies after CMIYC, but I don't consider them at the same level, War Of The Worlds, Tin-Tin and Indy 4 had their good fun moments, but were far from perfect films (particularly Indy 4).

Munich and Lincoln are good movies, but they are not able to grasp my attention like Schindler's List or even Empire Of The Sun.

And the rest I found actually boring but watchable... Terminal, War Horse, Bridge Of Spies, BFG.

I actually had high expectations for Bridge of Spies having the Coen Bros and Tom Hanks involved, but was sort of a snoozer.

Do you agree / disagree with any of this? Wondering if some other fans feel the same about his filmography.

Thanks.

I'm a huge fan too, but I feel that after Munich he hasn't really impressed me. I even really liked War of the Worlds which many people seem to hate. But after Munich all of his movies have been pretty forgettable, not something that I'd watch more than once. I haven't seen BFG and I'm not really interested in it at all.

I kind of agree. Catch Me If You Can may be his last unequivocally great film. Lincoln and Bridge of Spies were very solid but I don't know if I'd cal them great.

I have to agree that Catch is the last film I really enjoyed from him. All the others I watched were disappointing.

As I mentioned on another thread, I think it's time Mr. Spielberg take us into outer space. We've never really left Earth in a film he directed before.
