So is his career over?

I was just looking at his IMDB page and he doesn't have even one film in production. Not a damn thing.

So is this just it for him?

I have to think we'll see him again eventually. It will probably start with him appearing in some low-budget indies and then, maybe, several years down the road Hollywood will bring him back into fold.

It's going to be a hard road back though.

reply

Pretty much so, he is finished as a valuable force in Hollywood, after what's happened I don't think anyone would wanna hire him or be around him now because he's creepy, I think we've seen the last of Kevin Spacey.

reply

It's just hard for me to believe that NO one will want to hire him. He's still a name and I'm sure has at least some fans left.

I think after a year or two, if he's willing to take a pay cut, then there's going to be some indie director making a $3 million movie that will be happy to have Kevin Spacey on board.

While I certainly don't condone what he has done in his personal life, I do think it's a shame. This guy is a real talent. If his career is completely over, what a waste!

reply

Yeah.

By many accounts, the guy is just a huge asshole and a nightmare to work with. But you can't deny his talent.

I'm the type of guy who believes in second chances so perhaps after suffering for a while he'll get one.

I do have a feeling that the scenario you put out there will happen. The political climate is bound to change with time. Perhaps this whole ordeal will humble him and with a bit of serious therapy, who knows? He may turn out to be a better human being.
He strikes me as a strong person, so I doubt very much that this could break him. He's a fighter. Let's hope he pulls himself out of this and becomes a better person.

reply

Yeah, I guess we'll see how it goes.

If he does re-emerge on the movie landscape it's going to be interesting to see how well received he is by the public. I think that from here on out there will always be people who will refuse to watch a movie if he's in it.

He was a co-star in Billionaire Boys Club, which just got a limited release to 11 theaters, it made a grand total of $618 in its opening weekend. The guy is box office poison, at least for now.

reply

His sexual assault allegations ruins his whole legacy.

reply

Oh, I think he'll be back.

He'll take a couple of years off and let the furor die down, and then remind his various powerful old friends how much he knows about them, and the good old times they used to have out of the public eye. He'll get work.

reply

But would anyone want to be around him knowing what we know now?

reply

On honey, it's Hollywood. They've been around worse people!

And if Spacey wants work it wouldn't necessarily be in a glare of publicity, he's run one of the world's great theatrical companies, directed at least one movie, and done a lot of stage directing as well as acting. If he wants to work while avoiding publicity he could do voice work or wear a dot suit to play a CGI alien, direct an Alan Smithee film, be a second-unit director, coach actors, direct TV episodes, direct plays, etc. He may be a loathsome person but he's a very good actor and has a lot of marketable skills, so he's not exactly facing a penurious old age. Especially because he undoubtedly knows where a lot of bodies are buried, so to speak.

reply

Hollywood having shit like this has stopped be acceptable. Like Weinstein he could face jail or be in a institute, right now he's disappeared off the grid and is pretty much a persona non grata.

reply

Kevin should move to France and start working in French theater and cinema.

French are cool. They dont care about some silly accusations and allegations.

reply

Pretty much I'd say.

😎

reply

I don't think so. People in Hollywood knew Spacey was gay and a creep, etc. And so many people were affected by this they can go through it together. So conversely Weinstein was charged and he's going to be prosecuted and that was by a bunch of working actors and people who are in the fold. This guy who accused him outed him but he doesn't seem to want to prosecute. The people who work with Spacey knew him and they'll help him to get back to where he was before.

reply

The industry is doing through a massive shift where all the stuff that Spacey and Weinstein have been doing has stopped being acceptable.

reply

Ok so this is really about prosecuting Cosby, Weinstein, and Casey Affleck and his group of friends who are obviously guilty despite not being prosecuted at this point. Spacey smeared himself on someone who told him to go and he accepted and left so Spacey's career isn't over. For instance, James Gunn is guilty of rude online jokes. Some of this is unnecessary backlash. It's not going to be permanent.

reply

Thing is knowing what we know now I don't think many people would want to be around Spacey because he's creepy, crude jokes is fine but for a rapist more serious to blacklist them, Weinstein sort of blew the lid of what was an essentially a industry standard, nobody did anything about Spacey, Weinstein or Cosby before for one there was nothing to prove them guilty of anything.

reply

Okay but you're wrong because all of those people have tons of friends who've always known what kinds of people they were. The allegation that broke him was one were in he didn't commit a crime. He has actual victims and they're still not coming forward to prosecute which I think is because they were the ones who were blacklisted and persecuted and they are still too scared.

reply

Who needs prosecution when public opinion has turned on him, he molested a 14 year old boy which is wrong and harassed people on set of House Of Cards. With him being cut from All The Money In The World and fired from House Of Cards I think we've seen the last of Kevin Spacey.u

Assault victims rarely speak due to intimidation, feelings of humiliation and wanting to keep their careers. With Spacey's open secret now public kind of ruins his whole legacy.

reply

The thing is that this is not limited to one person. Dozens came out to accuse him. There are still open investigations and lawsuits.

He has a huge mess that needs to be cleaned up before he can dream of going back to acting.

reply

Right now he seems to have disappeared off the grid.

Question is can you go back to acting after being accused of multiple sexual misconduct allegations.

It a unfortunate difficult situation that ruins his whole legacy.

reply

His latest film Billionaire Boys Club has opened low box office which was never gonna be a comeback.
