reply

So a vegetarian can't be fat?

reply

A calorie is a calorie, darlin’. Doesn’t matter where it came from.

reply

They tend to get fat.

You are eating all carbs and when you don't have enough protein you for some reason crave sweets. It is extremely hard to get protein when vegetarian. A chicken breast has like 20 grams of protein and trying to get that amount from vegetable matter is very hard, and your body needs more than that per day.

reply

It is not "extremely hard" to get protein when vegetarian. Your post is misinformation. It literally sounds like propaganda for the beef/pork/poultry industry.

reply

So, you're another idiot who knows nothing about the topic?

I was a vegetarian for 15 years and it's extremely hard to get protein. Whole proteins, you probably don't know what that means, almost don't exist in plants. When they do it's just small amounts.

You need about 1.5 grams of protein per lean body mass, you don't know what that means, in order to stay fit. That's like an impossible task.

reply

Here's a list of complete veggie proteins. Beans and rice is one. Who knew! Again it's not hard.

Seiten, which can be quite tasty, has 25g of protein per 3.5 ounces. Lentils 18g of protein per cup(cooked). Please educate yourself before commenting.

reply

Not whole proteins---retard.

reply

It isn't a complete protein because it is low in lysine. I will provide a list of foods that are lysine rich. Coupling one of these with seiten make a complete protein. They are what we call "side dishes". Do you think I sit down and just eat a plate of seiten? DERPY DERP DERP DERP. Not a whole protein. DERRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

reply

These foods are hard to digest and unless they're digested at the same time.

If they aren't the protein isn't combined. Also, if you don't digest them at all, it certainly isn't.

If you are an athletic person, who lifts weights, etc you need 1.5 grams of protein per lean body mass. So, a 220 pound man is going to be eating buckets full of vegetarian food, which is not possible.

What will happen is mass wasting, fatness, and exhaustion. I know because it happened to me.

reply

Yes, I do lift. All it takes is a little research and you can get enough protein through a vegan diet. I'm not a vegan, however. I will eat meat 1-2 times a week. Chicken or fish. I also use eggs when a recipe calls for it. I love blueberry muffins! And cornbread goes great with beans.

There are protein rich vegetarian foods. You don't have to eat "bucket fulls". I will say that some of them can make you very gaseous at times, lol.

reply

No there aren't.

Did you ever eat quinoa?

You get 4 grams of whole protein in a 4th of a cup. It has whole protein.

If you eat that, you're getting almost no protein and it is extremely hard to digest. It is punishment to digest.

If you eat a whole cup of it, which is a giant amount, you will get 16 grams which is close to a chicken breast, which is small and easy to eat.

There is no way a person can get 200 grams of protein from being vegetarian. If they tried, they're going to be crapping most of it out because they can't digest it.

That's why lifters drink protein shakes because that is even more easily absorbed than eating meat.

reply

No sense in arguing with you. I've gone totally vegan while lifting and lost no muscle mass. The only reason I stopped is that I got bored with the diet.

reply

Wait a few years.

Your body totally changes cells about every seven years. When all the new ones have no fuel in them, you will feel like shit, get fat, and your hair will be affected.

reply

The benefits I have seen in drastically reducing animal protein from meat is lower bodyfat, better digestion, and my skin is clearer than it has ever been. I also wake up with a raging boner almost every morning. I'll take morning sex over coffee any day.

reply

In a couple years you will feel like shit.

Your body is coasting on what it ate in the past to build itself.

trust me.

Your hair will start falling out and and stuff.

reply

You are stunningly ignorant.

reply

I clearly know more about the topic than you.

Butthurt isn't a good look for a lifter, lol.

reply

Personally, I'm at my best with overall health when I eat nothing but steak, eggs and leafy greens, and almost no carbohydrates.

reply

Leafy greens are awesome. Eating steak everyday will catch up to you, but I'm not here to tell people what to eat. That's their choice. I just dislike disinformation. You can get enough protein through a vegan diet. Doing so takes some research if you want to gain muscle mass but it can be done. And it won't make "your hair fall out and stuff" if you do it right. I think what happens is stupid people "go vegan" without consideration of nutrition.

reply

Frank Zane says it's more like 0.8 grams of protein per pound of body weight. This is based on research. Shoveling back more protein than that is just bro science.

reply

Well dude, 1 gram or 1.5 isn't a big deal.

Try getting 200 grams of protein from vegetables. You will beg for death.

reply

Stick boy don't hate on people with good genes. You are going to be like that no matter what you put in your mouth.

reply

Dude, I'm a 260 pound man who has been lifting since I was a teenage.

I once squatted near a world record, lol.

You can't be strong as a vegetarian.

reply

It's still possible to eat too much, even when the food is all from plant sources.
