Why Does She Not Comment on the Hughes Films?

I'm only bringing this up now because I am watching the documentary on Sixteen Candles and she's not involved in it, she wasn't involved in the Breakfast Club documentary either. I remember her not being involved in much of anything for those films. What's her deal? I understand that she was typecast after this, but seriously this is what got you your start. "Secret Life" is a pretty success TV series, so her career isn't completely over. In fact it might be coming back. Stop being such a bitch and do these documentaries!

She did do the 'Pretty in Pink' documentary. If she's not in the '16 Candles' documentary, who is? Is it worth it to buy the updated DVD?

reply

Anthony Michael Hall and the actor who played her father, as well as Gedde Wantabe (Long Duk Dong) and the actor who played her younger brother. I think that's it.

I was going to post a thread on this very subject...Yes, her participation on the DVD's of the Hughes films is nonexistent. I watched Breakfast Club and everyone was involved in the making of featurette....but not Molly, the leading lady. Just watched Sixteen Candles, and again everyone was involved, even Paul Dooley who played her father....but again: NO Molly.

What's up with this? Is she a "b*tch" as some others have commented, or does she now look down on the teen films she made with Hughes? Molly should be much more grateful for those movies, because they've not only become real classics, but she wouldn't have a career without them.

I know John Hughes cut ties with her, after she refused to star in his movie Some Kind Of Wonderful. I heard it ruined their relationship.

I was wondering that too - everyone who talks about her in those interviews talk as though she was dead. I actually checked here to see if she was, because they always refer to her in the past tense "She WAS a great friend, she WAS a fine actress, etc."

"I'll book you. I'll book you on something. I'll find something in the book to book you on."

she and john hughes' relationship apparently ended bitterly. she took him for granted (as most young people do) and john wanted her in all his films and she was afraid of being typecast so she turned down some kind of wonderful. and then they stopped speaking i believe. anyway, she was at the oscar dedication to him.

Like many actors, she's done a LOT besides the JH stuff and, like many actors, she probably gets tired of only being interviewed about those few films.
When you try your damndest to move on and do other things, but people themselves typecast you, it gets tiresome...

Or - Perhaps she wasn't on any of these simply because she was busy being a mother.
