I think it was a slew of movies back to back...perhaps her peformance in Sleepy Hollow (?), Prozac Nation's never to be seen in theaters ordeal, Pumpkin, Miranda, Anything Else...maybe Cursed as well? She got a lot of flack for her performance in Monster which I felt wasn't deserved. She was pretty awesome in that film, but next to Charlize's epic performance, things went down. While she's had quite a few Oscar worthy performances (Black Snake Moan, The Opposite of Sex, Monster, The Ice Storm and Prozac Nation if it would've been released to theaters), I guess maybe she's never really played the rules according to Hollywood's standards. I've been rooting for her career to skyrocket since 1996 and am still hoping foe the day to see her recognized by The Acadamey. Until then, OOHHHH WEELLLL!!! She is still, annd probably always will be, my favorite actress of all time. And I'm proud to be a fan!

Not talking about the role, or the movie overall, just about her as an individual-in spite of the movie. Other than that it has no interest to me. The two you mention are among my favorites.
