Healthy, but cigarettes and drugs?

I really like River, and in all interviews he seems very intelligent. How can he then be so focused on living healthy while at the same time killing himself with drugs and cigarettes? Has anyone ever commented on this? Has he ever commented on this?

Well, what is there to say, really? He had deep issues, and smoking was a big vice of his because he picked up the habit from hard partying, which was his escape and a way that he coped with stardom.

He avoided meat and fast food though...I don't think because he was trying to live healthy, but rather he LOVED animals and was a huge supporter for animal rights.

The guy was young when he died, though. He was only 23. He wasn't perfect and was trying to find his way in life and was trying to find himself, like most people in their 20s. He never claimed to be a saint.

Well, like the thread I started. He is dumb as hell to quote how bad drugs are, then die from using them.

Rated R Horror movies are better, no matter the argument.

You do realize he was only 23 when he passed? You haven't said or done something stupid in your youth? Well, we must have a saint on our hands then. 😇

Just because he used drugs it doesn't mean that he didn't know they are bad. I'm sure he did but drug addiction can be hard to overcome. He probably wanted to stop doing drugs but temptation got the best of him.

Yes, he was vegan because he cared about animals so much and was a very compassionate and sensitive human being. It wasn't so much the personal health aspect that's associated with plant-based diets today. As for his drug use, he definitely knew that drugs were bad. But what I never understood was how he did speak against drugs but still did them, and ended up dying from them. I remember that his cause of death was shocking to a lot of people because they thought he wasn't the kind of person they thought would ever touch drugs or even think about doing them. I wonder why and how he got started on the drugs.

Probably the same way and for similar reasons that many celebrities get started on drugs. Being famous may seem to us like a fabulous life but I think that's often an illusion. The lack of privacy along with pressure to perform and look/act perfect for the public probably has something to do with it. I know a lot of people will say that celebs shouldn't complain because that's what they signed up for when they decided to get into the biz. But, I wonder if they go into it thinking it's this fabulous perfect life, like many regular folks believe only to find out it's not all glitz and glam?

It was the first time he ever had an 8 ball.
