One great scene in Misconduct

Pacino: Mr. Denning! What happened? Where's your troop? I was expecting an army.

(Realizing the sarcasm, Hopkins jabs back)

Hopkins: Well, your expectations have always been your downfall, Charles

(Pacino quickly counters)

Pacino: Well, I would rather have faulty expectations than sell faulty pharmaceuticals.

Hopkins: (*could not respond...reacts with a bitter, crushed and humiliated face*)

BURRRRRN!!! Wouldn't surprise me if Hopkins' reaction was real given Pacino's greatness in delivering kick-ass lines. but dang! he really looked like he needed some ice for that burn.🔥 His face looked so.....defeated.

I'm such as sucker for Pacino delivering ass-kicking lines. Especially when directed to other great actors.

I've also noticed that Pacino immediately owns that scene with Hopkins. Hopkins, however, seems to consciously and willingly yield to Pacino's magnetism and star power by default/automatically. Maybe because I heard he was intimidated to work with Al in this

I still haven't seen it, but I will of course and look forward to that scene at least!

Thanks for posting that. One of the things that has always made Pacino special is the way he handles lines, the rhythm of it.

Love his tone in this scene. Especially the way he says Mr Denning!!! LOL

This part I had goosebumps. The way he takes off his glasses first then delivers the line flawlessly with his game-face. Perfect!

Don't know if you also noticed (or maybe it's just me) Hopkins' was almost teary eyed - like about to burst into tears but held back - a mixture of bitterness, pain and epic defeat all in one face. Ouch much?

I actually giggled a bit on his reaction - he got owned within seconds of arrival LOL.

Interesting observation. I think when Pacino is paired up with another actor it just happens. There's no escaping or resisting or winning against it. . This scene for instance, Hopkins charisma easily succumbs to Pacino's dominant presence as if he has no choice - like it's the law of gravity to him.

No offense to Hopkins of course (or all other actors Pacino has overpowered which means everyone LOL), but the universe just goes with Al's flow. Can't do anything about that or maybe you DONT HAVE TO do anything about that. Sounds crazy, I know, but it's true. You can feel it ESPECIALLY in this scene.

One question where did you hear did Hopkins was intimidated? Link?

@Jamraover

Sorry, I don't have the link but I think I read it in an article. Hopkins has been worshipping Pacino for years though I think.

Great take on Pacino's dominant presence. Agreed.
