Did 'Scarlet Letter' and 'Striptease' end her career?

Okay, she still works. But Moore was the biggest actress in Hollywood, then she did those two movies. Nobody was interested by the time of 1997's G.I. Jane, and she was reduced to supporting roles thereafter. Her decline is staggering and it seems traceable to that one-two punch of awful movies in the mid 90s.

reply

That sounds plausible. Looking her up, she is worth a staggering $200 million.

reply

Glad she saved her money. Pretty sure her public profile declined at some point, though.

reply

Honestly, I remember her most for Charlie's Angels. I never saw it but everyone was making such a big deal about her at the time, raving about her miraculous body. I've seen A Few Good Men and The Butcher's Wife but I think that's the extent of my Demi Moore films. Clearly, she was a huge star to get that kind of money.

reply

NOBODY made a “big deal” out of Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. It was touted as De-MEE (that’s her affected pronunciation of her name)’s “return.”

It wasn’t.

reply

My apologies. It was not a big deal.

reply

I think maybe interest in her may have waned after everyone got to see the goods. That and the fact that she wasn’t really an incredible actress.

reply

She did full nude in About Last Night back in the 80's and even a nude photo shoot when she was 17 for a magazine.

The plastic surgery ruined her along with crap films.

Guess who this is:

reply

That would have made her 16 or so at the time.

reply

That is not the original poster release. That one, which it is most commonly know by, was done several years later.

reply

I think it's more like soon after that, she went from having a soft, sexy looking face and curvy body to having a hard, witchy looking face and ropy, wiry body, plus marrying Ashton Kutcher.

reply

😣

reply

In the 80's she had a cute girl next door look and sweet body.

She ruined herself with plastic surgery which just made her look harsh.

Also she did a lot of controversial films which just made people roll their eyes, Indecent Proposal, Striptease, GI Jane.

Didn't help that they weren't very good either.

reply

I watched GI Jane for the first time maybe a year ago and thought it was actually pretty good.

reply

I watched it not long after it came out. For me it is more of an accumulation of her desire to create controversy.

reply

It is a great movie.

reply

"Indecent Proposal, Striptease, GI Jane."

Those are her most successful movies..

reply

Doesn't make them good. People saw them due to the hype but when they realized they were bad films it takes away from her credibility.

reply

I think she was also over exposed and I don't just mean her body.

Back in the 90's she was everywhere lots of films, controversy, divorce, Kutcher.

People got bored.
