Taylor Swift has now achieved 40 top ten singles on the Hot 100, the most by a female artist. Madonna has had 38 (the last one was 12 years ago) and Rihanna has had 31. On top of that, Swift is the female artist with the most charted songs in the US. Madonna has had 12 #1 singles on the Hot 100 (the last one was 22 years ago), which is three more than Taylor. Mariah Carey, who has had 19, is the one to beat.
Yeah she’s insanely popular right now, I was browsing the Australian Top 50 albums and I lost count of the Tay Tay albums there. Couldn’t hum a single bar of a single song of hers myself.. but I’m way out of her target audience.
But why not post this on Taylor Swift’s profile rather than the artist who she wouldn’t have been allowed the career opportunities without? It seems salty.
Comparing singles achievements of artists of the streaming era to those of the physical media era is meaningless, when today every song from an album which hits the charts (due to Spotify) is counted as a single.
