Madonna's Soundtrack Songs That Should've Been Nominated For the Oscar

I’m really shocked how many times they ignored her well-deserved nominations. My list is this:

1. Crazy For You (from “Vision Quest” 1985) – usually claimed as one of the greatest LOVE songs

2. Live to Tell (from “At Close Range” 1986) – brilliant movie with no less brilliant soundtrack

3. Who’s That Girl or The Look of Love (from “Who’s That Girl” 1987)

4. This Used to Be My Playground (from “A League of Their Own” 1992) – this one is my biggest complaint! The song is a masterpiece

5. I’ll Remember (from “With Honors” 1994) – another beautiful song

6. Time Stood Still (from “The Next Best Thing” 2000) – criminally underrated and overlooked track

7. Masterpiece (from “W.E.” 2011)

all of her songs are Oscar worthy, but because she doesn't entertain the press or voters like Beastyoncé does, they've denied her all along, but it's ok, her songs are timeless and will live forever, Beastyoncé's won't. I think she still has one more song to win the Oscar for.

I agree.
Beastyonce? hahaha well said

Amen. Penn, his brother & their mother, like a trip hammer.

Crazy for You was much better than any of the nominated songs but the film itself (Vision Quest) was pretty obscure.

Live to Tell should have been nominated but the Top Gun ballad was a worthy winner, those two Madonna songs are among her best and Playground is memorable too, I’m very surprised none of them were even nominated!

Anyone else?

What about Die Another Day and Beautiful Stranger?

reply

Die Another Day is one of the worst Bond themes so no, not Oscar worthy lol

reply

I like that song

'Crazy for You' and 'Live to Tell' are beautiful songs. The others aren't really among her best work and I don't think it's all that surprising that most of them were ignored.

Crazy For You definitely should have won the Oscar, it’s better and much more memorable than Lionel Richie's Say You, Say me. I don't know what they were thinkng that year, maybe voters wanted Lionel to win rather than upstart Madonna!
