The two or three good films by David Lynch

The Elephant Man and The Straight Story. I think Eraserhead was alright too (I don't think it contained inappropriate content). But all the other films contain inappropriate content and I cannot support them. I wish he would make more movies like The Elephant Man and The Straight Story and even weird ones like Eraserhead. But if it is rated R then I will not be watching them.

Agreed. His three best films are those.

His violent dark sexual films are not appealing at all.

There can be no light without darkness. God did not create the universe; he divided light from darkness.

What content in them do you think is inappropriate?

He's an adult and he makes films for adults. I've got news for you, slappy, the whole world is inappropriate. (Though I do love those three films, myself.)

Paraphrasing: "What do you need a grabber for, Alvin?" "Grabbin'."

True.

In a way yes, in a way no. When it comes to reality (that is, what there is), there is no such thing as appropriate or inappropriate.

I do love them too. To be exact, I love almost every Lynch film. Dune and Wild at Heart being the exceptions, maybe.

Paraphrasing: "What do you need a grabber for, Alvin?" "Grabbin'."
That's a great line! And in a way, it represents the whole film; there are no strings attached to any action in the film, everything is just what it is. It's a very straight story.

There's a ton of subtext built into that little exchange. Underlying the hardware store owner's question is this deep concern for Alvin. He knows Alvin has something in mind and he's worried about the old man. Underlying Alvin's response is his determination to do what he knows he's got to do, before it's too late to do it. He's just going to die. His brother is just going to die. The danger inherent in his trek is really secondary. I love it!

reply

Yeah. It's such a thoroughly caring film all over.

Eraser head is violent, very dark. And very sexual!
Inland empire and mullholand drive have very little violence or explicit sex in
In fact many TVs shows now have way more sex and violence in than most lynch films.
These are just stupid close minded prejudice rules your making for yourself preventing you seeing films
You may love , especially if you like eraserhead
