Has anyone's public persona ever gone through such a 180?

BELOVED after the OT and being the writer for the Indy trilogy. Even Willow is beloved among Star Wars fans.

Then he released the "Special" Editions. People were excited the OT was back in the theaters. I was only 3 when ROTJ came out - I had never seen ANY of them in theaters myself - so I was looking forward to it. We were all excited for a hot minute, particulaly since new toys came out, but then we were like, "These changes/additions suck."

Then he came out with the prequels, which were....not the most popular movies. People were so divided-to-unsatisfied with them he sold the franchise. He was so bothered by the fact people dared to criticize them, he wanted out.

No one has gone through such a public image change as much as this guy. I love the OT, but don't want him ANYWHERE NEAR Star Wars ever again.

As bad as the prequels may be they are the freaking Godfather compared to what Disney is doing. Lucas should buy the rights back and erase these pathetic excuses of fan fiction from canon.

reply

The prequels are worse in every way: acting, effects, story, etc - and the reviews prove it.

TPM - 53% and 59% at RT.
AOTC - 65% and 56%
ROTS - 80% and 66%

Avgs. 66% and 60%

TFA - 93% and 86%
TLJ - 90% and 43%
TROS - 51% and 86%

Avgs. 78% and 71%

Also all the reviews are are the subjective opinions of a few people. It's not an objective measurement and all you've provided is your own personal subjective opinion.

reply

"and all you've provided is your own personal subjective opinion. "

Huh? I cited critics and fans opinions - that's the opposite of "my own personal opinion".

Than Phantom Menace alone has 230 critic and over a million fan votes. The Force Awakens has 434 critic reviews and 234K fan votes. This is not "my" opinion or even a small number.

reply

Those are still subjective opinions numb nuts, it's not objective.

The sequels are some of the worst movies I have ever seen, they aren't even good enough to be considered bad fan fiction.

reply

Id rather watch the Sequels than the Prequels , so would most fans id say.

reply

Not even close, the prequels at least told a coherent story and had interesting characters. The sequels were a soulless cash grab made by a corporation more concerned with maximizing their profits than telling a story:

1) Empire Strikes Back (A+)
2) A New Hope (A+)
3) Revenge Of The Sith (A)
4) Return Of The Jedi (A-)
5) Attack Of The Clones (B-)
6) The Phantom Menace (B-)
7) The Holiday Special (F)
8) The Last Jedi (F)
9) Solo (F)
10) Rogue One (F)
11) Rise Of Skywalker (F)
12) The Force Awakens (F)

ESB - 9
ANH - 9
ROTJ - 8
RO - 7
TFA - 7
ROTS - 7
AOTC - 6
TLJ - 5
TPM - 5

Fixed it for you, the above is the true scores based on audience score and critic score

reply

I could not disagree with you anymore. Those Disney films are some of the worst movies I've ever seen. If they all had a 100% on RT, MC and IMDB, won every Academy Award from the year they were released and were all named the top 5 greatest films of all time on every Best film all time list I would still think they were horrible.

reply

"Id rather watch the Sequels than the Prequels , so would most fans id say."

The sequel trilogy ranks higher than prequels by both fans and critics at Rotten Tomatoes. The prequels suck and most people agree.

reply

The only positive thing that came out of this whole fiasco is the mandalorian - and that's despite Disney, rather than because of it.

reply

Rogue One was good

reply

Not really...

reply

Yeah really it was. Rogue one is a good film.

How bad the prequels "could have been", LOL? Could have?! They ARE - and their's reviews, fan posts, and countless articles to prove it.

reply

Star Wars without George Lucas is like a broken pencil. 😎

Anyone who thinks they have the market cornered on being a "real Star Wars fan" is an idiot....

reply

it is pretty funny. Now the last two sequels have been so bad that he is beloved again.

reply

Let’s just agree that both the prequel and sequel trilogy are shite
