I always thought he was older than Downey in the sherlock films and from other thinge I saw him I certainly would've said he was mid 50'a not mid 40's.

jude is 43. everyone at that age should look as handsome as he does. it's not only his looks but he is a very charismatic and sweet man.
As someone with the exact same hairline as Jude Law, I hope I look as good as him when I'm in my 40s.
