Video: What the Hell Happened to Val Kilmer?

https://lebeauleblog.com/2019/09/06/video-what-the-hell-happened-to-val-kilmer/

For years I have thought about taking the “What the Hell Happened” series to YouTube, but I kept putting it off. Recently, I decided the time had come to give it a shot. And who better to make the subject of my inaugural video than the unofficial mascot of the series, Val Kilmer? Here it is, readers. The first WTHH video.

The story will be familiar to longtime readers, but the change in format allows for a different presentation. This is a first effort and I look forward to finding ways to improve in future videos. Hopefully readers will enjoy this new take on the long-running series as much as I enjoyed making it.

He got older, he lost his looks.

He's still working though, which is as good as life gets for actors in their fifties.

reply

He got cancer. That's why he looks even worse for his age....

reply

He's 59!

Everyone loses their looks by age 59, unless they've made a deal with Satan or something.

Sean Connery won Sexiest Man Alive in 1989 at age 59.

Yeah, with a hairpiece.

Actually no, he was sporting the bald look in most of his films by then. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Presidio, Untouchables, Name of the Rose, Highlander, those were his biggest headliners from 1986-1989 and all bald.

reply

That's surprising, but good to know. Thank you.

reply

While that is true. .. Tom Cruise is just 2 years younger and looks better. Kilmer had throat cancer. Look at his current pictures.

If anyone has made a deal with Satan and his minions in the field of plastic surgery... it's Tom Cruise.

Probably didn't help that he treated people so badly when his career was at its peak.

I think that might be one reason no one seems willing to give him a part in a movie with a decent budget. Other than the Top Gun sequel, but he's Iceman, so they kind of had to go with him. Other than that, he's been stuck in low budget/straight to video movies for a while.
