It’s not based on Lucille’s acting career, but on her private life with her husband Desi Arnaz.

Nicole's face is too plastic looking these days. But even if this was made 10 years ago she wouldn't have been a good choice.

I just don't find her to have much range outside of a flustered upper class woman or housewife. Her more dramatic roles never left an impression on me. But since this is suppose to be a drama and not a comedy I guess Debra wasn't considered to be a good candidate.
