HBO is the best news for Dark Tower ...

Since Ron Howard took the reins of the adaptation! Did anyone think that The Dark Tower on network television was going to be a good idea? I really don't think Howard is a good fit for the franchise, but he's a competent director and at least it's not Gavin Hood (like on the poor Ender adaptation).

However, I don't see how they plan on splitting the books into 3 (or why). Seems like the franchise should be all movies or, even better, 7 seasons on HBO. But, I suppose splitting it up makes more financial sense.

It also seems like a weird move for HBO to invest in another series or fantasy/horror books. Looking at TDT and Game of Thrones from a broad angle they seem very similar (not that I'm complaining). Thoughts?
