shareNobody said he's directing it yet (though I hope he is!) but this is a GREAT choice to have in charge of the whole production. Most exciting news i've ever heard about the project.

Please someone stop this. The man is not a bad director and has made some classics, but he is totally not fit for this series. And condense it as a trilogy?! Seven rather large books? That's like taking a larger version of Harry Potter and combining it together. Man, overall I'm just disappointed here. Would love to have seen it stick with JJ Abrams, who actually makes similar material and shows a love for the series. If they cast Tom Hanks as Roland, I'm out.
shareHopefully he doesn't make it as dull as The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons
sharei hope they make one movie per book thats the only way it would work, you cant squeeze 7 books and 1 short story into three movies and a tv series... please
sharehonestly...i dont think ron howard is up for it...its was tooo big for him...sry 2 all who like r.h....its just my opinion...also...being as obsessed with this series as i am...i feel that the only person who could do justice is jj abrams...i just pray that if and when it does go to the screen, big or little, i will be able 2 just enjoy walking the beam...
See you later aligator, in a while crocodile, dont forget to write.- Blain the Mono.
Wait.. A trilogy? That is ridiculous, he'd have to cut so much stuff you'd hardly recognise it. I could understand cutting a little bit, maybe merge the Gunslinger with the Drawing of the Three or something.. But just three movies? That would never work.
When I first heard this news a few minutes ago I was a little unsure, I mean Ron Howard's not really done anything like the Dark Tower, much darker than anything else in his resumé... But now I read this and I'm thinking this is going to turn out to be a terrible mistake.
It's not just a trilogy. Please. Read the full article:

It's a trilogy of movies, and a series running along side it.
