Don't like her, she and her husband are sleazebags

Article on Yahoo today about how Salma and her very rich hubby made a hug $100 million contribution to repair the burned Notre Dame Cathedral.

That sounded so wonderful and charitable.

UNTIL it was reveals that they asked for a 90% write off on their taxes, which would mean that while they get the credit for donating the money, the taxpayers would be paying for it.

Hayek and most other celebrities are just shills now for the billionaire class.

That's pretty low.

You should read the book, "Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World" by Anand Giridharadas

Former New York Times columnist Anand Giridharadas takes us into the inner sanctums of a new gilded age, where the rich and powerful fight for equality and justice any way they can - except ways that threaten the social order and their position atop it. We see how they rebrand themselves as saviors of the poor; how they lavishly reward "thought leaders" who redefine "change" in winner-friendly ways; and how they constantly seek to do more good, but never less harm. We hear the limousine confessions of a celebrated foundation boss; witness an American president hem and haw about his plutocratic benefactors; and attend a cruise-ship conference where entrepreneurs celebrate their own self-interested magnanimity.

Giridharadas asks hard questions: Why, for example, should our gravest problems be solved by the unelected upper crust instead of the public institutions it erodes by lobbying and dodging taxes? He also points toward an answer: Rather than rely on scraps from the winners, we must take on the grueling democratic work of building more robust, egalitarian institutions and truly changing the world. A call to action for elites and everyday citizens alike.

I don't think you understand how charitable tax deductions work.

I took the HR Block tax course and even moonlighted doing peoples taxes troll morons ... but on the internet when someone disagrees with trolls just lie about it and accuse others of not understanding. Tiresome shit ... do you have charitable tax deductions in Russia trollbot? Nevermind ... I already put you both on ignore.

THATS A VERY FAIR,WELL THOUGHT OUT DECISION.

He's going to overload the server with his ignore list... Not to mention, ignore is for pussies.

I'm pretty confused how people can just give their tax money to charity instead of the government and it doesent cost them anything.

Charity donations can be tax free , but it was my understanding that it would still cost you the 'not tax' part

same as if a businessman treats his clients to a posh dinner , and calls it a business expense - its not free , just tax free.

Seeing as you've done a course and everthing can we do an example , with easy round figures?

Lets say Salma makes $100m in a year and pays 33% tax on it , so takes 67m home
following year same, but she decides to give $10m to charity..... which will be tax free

so then she has 90m left , pays 33% tax and takes 60m home.

7m less than last year. Sho she's donated 10m tax free , but its still cost her 7m.

"HR Block tax course " That hardly means you understand the tax system.

*thumbs up*

Why the hell should they be taxed on money they gave away? Are you a moron? You think tax payers foot the 100 million bill? Imagine if that were true. I'd start a charity, then make billions in donations to it, and make tax payers pay it. The charity office would be made out of gold and crystal on top of a mountain.

> Are you a moron?

Funny how Conservatives/Republicans who swallow all Trump's lies and and are so stupid they don't take the free vaccine to a disease the is killing people in the red states have the nerve to always use idiot and moron insults in their comments.

You pay your taxes on your money as you earn it. What you do with it then is your business.

Try reading a book if you can read ... Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World (2018) by Anand Giridharadas about the scams rich people use to pretend to be helping when really they are just making themselves richer and more entrenched in government.

Even red states have hives of blue cities full of feral joggers and illegals doing the jobs joggers refuse to do. They die because they follow zero health advice and spread disease like filthy careless animals. So dont even pin phony numbers on conservatives.

Moron confirmed. If you give away money, it doesnt get taxed. That's not a scam. It's law for good reason (it promotes charity and saves big daddy government having to do EVERYTHING for your useless ass), unlike the reasons we have a bunch of bullshit taxes that your stupid ass would gladly pay to believe it goes to helping others like the sucker you are. The real scammers are people in the like Government like Biden, Clinton, Obama, and even the Bushes. They're using our taxes to make money hand over fist and none of it gets back to citizens. They're the actual elite, not Salma Hayek. Knowledge is a dangerous weapon in the hands of a autist like you. Know your place, know your role and shut your mouth. Double digit IQs are worker drones only. No one wants your opinions on ANYTHING. Get back to work wagie and clean it up.

reply

> If you give away money

That's not law. Saying that == moron.
Not to mention all your other truthless toothless noise.

I'm pretty sure Salma used her hubby's money to claim half of the contribution credit LOL
