He's never really been bad and always does the job. He can play a father, a cop, someone in the wild west, a hitman and the romantic interest.

He's never really been in a classic, but he's been good in a lot of movies.

I would say the only “classic” movies he has been in are:

The Before Trilogy
Gattaca
Training Day
Boyhood

I like them all, but I wouldn't say they were classics. I think Dead Poets Society is the closest by still wouldn't say it's a classic.

He's had pretty good hits over the years. Nothing like a blockbuster but he keeps ticking and ticking.
