In order:

1. Forrest Gump
- What did you expect? This is undeniably his greatest performance, as well as my favorite, for obvious and endless reasons.

2. Big
- I haven't seen this nearly as many times as Forrest Gump, but when I watch it, I want to say he was better in this. It's a REALLY close second. He's a 13 year old boy disguised in a 30 year old man's body. And the way Hanks acts, you certainly believe it.

3. Saving Private Ryan
- Probably his most moving and emotional performance. Of all the many awesome characters here, you're with Hanks from the very beginning. And you want for him to survive even more than Pvt. Ryan himself.

4. Captain Phillips
- 2013 and Hanks gives one of the best performances of his career. This would be his second most moving and emotional after Private Ryan. But here, he's not a hero. He's just an average guy dealing with the situation. Very powerful.

5. Cast Away
- This one makes you forget it's a Tom Hanks movie. It feels like you're watching an actual guy stranded on an island, struggling for survival. But Hanks carries this one and he nails it.

That's my personal list.

I'm bored, i'll play. My current 5 is probably my all time fave 5, it never really changes.

1. You've Got Mail. A fave movie of mine. I think it perfectly captures my favourite period of time as the old world was being consumed by the new technological one, and the magic of mixing between. It echoes of personal experiences and plays into fantasies, both relationship and lifestyle, of which I can only dream. And boy did I crush on Meg back in the day.

2. The Money Pit. Honestly, probably the funniest movie i've ever seen. I must have watched it 5000 times over the years.

3. Apollo 13. Best space movie ever. What else is there to say? And i'm a space nut. Love it.

4. Cast Away. I never really liked this movie when it came out, but each time I watch it over the years, I enjoy it more and more. There's an emotional trial of man that really speaks to me. And it's just gorgeous, in everything it does, not just the Island stuff.

5. Splash. Great movie. What a great 80s love story with a twist. Just wonderful.

Special mention to: Forrest Gump, great movie, i've just watched it too many times and Hanks is too in character for me to really get into it as a "Tom Hanks movie", and Saving Private Ryan, greatest war movie ever, but I consider it more an ensemble flick than a Hanks movie. Oh, and I can't watch Philadelphia cause it's too depressing, but that's a great damn movie.

Favourite crappy Tom Hanks movie:
Joe vs the Volcano. Ha. I watch it every few years hoping it's so bad it's good, but it's just bad.

Not in any particular order...

Captain Phillips. The scene at the end with the Navy medical woman is the best piece of acting I have witnessed in a very long time.
Forrest Gump. A movie I could watch over and over. The scene where Forrest meets his son gets me every time.
The Green Mile. A movie I encountered some time after release, it's a top ten title.
The Terminal. A wonderful story and I can't think of anyone else in the role of the helpless Viktor Navorski.
Cast Away. Despite being the only person screen for much of the movie, it never loses its momentum.

An honourable mention for The Polar Express. A great story for kids and grown-ups alike, it's very cleverly pulled together
