anyone here get cancelled like Mel?

I sort of did in my old job (media based)

Not because I went around saying bad stuff like Mel allegedly did but (looking back with hindsight) I wasn't a big leftie, wasn't female, wasn't gay (all of the bosses there were either female or gay men except the big dawgs who were straight white males), and tried to keep myself abit private/quiet but liked the odd joke..also I liked to drink (on Friday nights) and (again in hindsight) that wasn't good at all (I dont drink at all now).. and I wasn't that great at some stuff in work/didn't put myself forward enough (but certainly no worse than others there..in fact id consider myself more knowledgeable/able than most there)

Anyway in the end I had to leave as it was getting abit too strained/untenable with everyone there. In fact I was even named a few times as being 'not PC' .. that was about a decade ago.. I imagine its far worse there now

coordinated attack because of his jesus movie, even jim caviezel was cancelled from the movies and had to do tv shows.

Bobby, they weren’t down with that.

Jimmy was definitely done dirty.

It's possible he could've gotten away with simply appearing in Mel's movie, but he also had to go and be very outspoken about his beliefs, and lefty Hollywood just couldn't stand for all that.

Jim did get to be the villain in Stallone's Escape Plan and he also appeared in the Coen's The Ballad of Lefty Brown in 2017, but it seems like everything since then has been indie films, most of them religious.

He's a good actor and also a principled man, so I'm glad that he's able to continue to work even if he's not in mainstream films anymore.

He even said in an interview he was fully expecting to not get work but that the movie was too important to him.

I got fired from a job once cuz I was listening to a co-worker talk about all the women he bangs in front of female co-workers and we got sacked. I wasn't chiming in, he was doing all the bragging, but it didn't matter. That was pretty much right at the launch of the me too boom. That's when I learned you can't even hear the wrong talk in front of people.

oh yeh i forgot - i associated with the office trouble maker who was legit insane/violent (went out drinking with him as part of a group etc but the others were from different departments so that was ok for them) and a few times i got tarred with the same brush whenever he did something stupid. so that didnt help either

TandyMan, I got a similar story. I was part of a biz dev group of six. My boss made a comment about one of the girl's name being IMOAN backward. I laughed as I had never heard that one before.

She wrote me a nasty email saying she didn't appreciate being made fun of and gave me the cold shoulder. My boss (who is gay, mind you) said she asked him if she could talk to HR. I freaked out and moved my desk to the other side of the building and worked with a different team. I noped the #$@# out of that.

On my life I never did anything other than laugh at someone's joke, and it wasn't more than a chuckle. Maybe she realized she wouldn't be able to point at a gay man over the joke and went for me, I don't know.
