Berserker has been announced

on Mel's IMDb page under Director. Just so you all know. I was super excited to see that! Hope it's true!

BTW, hello to everyone here.

I hope so too because Mel could do a wonderful job on a Viking film. At one time he was scouting Iceland and Ireland for locations.

I'm skeptical if it will his next directorial project. He told Anne Thompson at Karlovy Vary that the idea wasn't as fresh anymore because of the History Channel series.

On THR directors roundtable, he mentioned a project on Lorenzo de' Medici as what he was excited about.

It probably comes down to what project he can get funded, since he's indicated that he will no longer self-fund his movies. He said he had written four scripts during his hiatus, which probably include Berserker, The Maccabees, The Magnificent, and one other film. I hope Mel doesn't feel forced to direct Suicide Squad 2 in order to get funding from WB for a passion project, although I think he could do a great job with the material.

That's really good news. I hope it happens and it would be great if Mel could get Leo to star in it.

And thanks for the PM. I propably wouldn't have found my way over here otherwise. Glad I read it just before the imdb boards disappeared :D

Not certain this is Berserker. My guess is it's something else, under the cover of a viking movie. I don't know why Mel would work with Leo after Leo jumped the long boat so quickly last time.

@TeaWithHoney - I hope Mel doesn't hold a grudge against Leo. After all, Mel is one of the few people who has been in Leo's position of being an A+ movie star with more quality offers than he has time to accept. Over the years Mel has had lots of projects that he was attached to as a star that fell apart.

@Oliz...you are welcome. i missed a lot of people; you should of seen me trying to hurry Tee hee.

reply

@Dancing. Of course projects fell apart, but Mel never disrespected anyone the way Leo did him. Fact is, when he could have done with a little support... or even nothing at all, Leo went beyond what he needed to in an effort to raise himself up while dumping on Mel. I'd rather see another actor play the lead in Berserker, but if it were Leo, I'm sure he'd do a good job. Mel would get the best from him.

I'm not fond of Leo, either, but he's a bigger name in Hollywood than Gibson is now, and Gibson would do well to work with him if he wants to. Chris Pine would be an even better choice -- everything he touches turns to gold, it seems.

Gibson strikes me as being smart enough to know that he should let bygones be bygones as he tries to climb back into Hollywood's good graces.
