Is it true that John Travolta turned down the lead role in both "An Officer And A Gentleman" and "American Gigolo"?
shareThe fact that both roles were offered to John Travolta (and yes, they were) first and then went to Richard Gere, is not that unusual. Both were leading men in demand in 1979 and 1980, and there are always just a few young leading men to choose from for the type of starring roles, required by both movies.
The only connections are, they were both leading men in 1980, were considered handsome and challenging (a bit of a "bad boy" edge) and are 4.5 years with in the same age.
