The've never succeded at finding another Inspector Sellers (that actually worked, anyway) after the death of Peter Sellers. It's been over 40 years. The late Alan Arkin was a brilliant actor, but even he couldn't pull of Clousseau when he played the part in 1968. Sometimes one actor just is the character in a way that no one else can be/

If James Bond had never been successfully recast I might agree completely.

Still, I also can't see anyone else playing Indy - maybe because Indy wasn't just debonaire?

Vanity. He's past it. Well, actually, I never saw the appeal. I knew a gal who thought he was the swooniest ever, but he's not that great of an actor. I assume he's a good carpenter. But he always seemed pretty mediocre to me. If they can't find a good replacement, they aren't trying.

I really think he's a very good actor. It would be difficult for me to see another one playing Indy.

Bond being successfully recast after Connery makes me believe that there will at some point be someone who can do it justice.
